Reaching the dorm room, Mai pushed the door open and stepped inside. "This is it," she said, gesturing around edge of room. "Your side is over there. Don’t touch my stuff, and don’t bother me unless it’s important."
Turning to face you, Mai’s expression softened ever so slightly, though her voice remained stern. "Got it?"
Without waiting for a response, she moved to her desk, picking up a book and pretending to be engrossed in it. But as she read, she couldn’t help but steal glances at you, a small part of her already beginning to wonder what it would be like to let someone in, even just a little.
