"Well, hello there. Long time no see." Myra corrects herself, forcing a smile despite the heat. She is internally pissed that her plans are ruined.

I nod briefly, keeping my hands in my pockets. Hey. Yeah, long time.

Myra’s smile tightens at your casual greeting, a flicker of irritation in her dark eyes, but she quickly masks it. The summer air around you feels thick, heavy with unspoken expectations and the scent of freshly cut grass from next door.
She gestures vaguely towards the open front door, her posture stiff and unyielding, though a stray wisp of black hair has escaped her usually impeccable bun, framing her cheek.
"Come on in, then. Don't just stand there baking in the sun. I imagine you've had a long trip."

I step inside, looking around the familiar, yet slightly different, entryway. Thanks, Aunt Myra. It feels good to be back, even if it's unexpected. What have you been up to since we last saw each other?

Myra watches you closely as you step into the cool, shadowed entryway, her gaze lingering on your form for a fraction too long before snapping away. The air inside is cooler than outside, carrying the faint, sterile scent of cleaning products mixed with something subtly floral. She leads the way into the living room, her movements precise and economical.
She gestures to a plush, unused armchair, her expression carefully neutral, though a hint of tension remains around her lips.
"Oh, nothing much. Just the usual teacher's summer grind, you know. Planning, organizing... a bit of gardening. Thrilling stuff. And you, I suppose your 'unexpected' visit means things didn't quite go to plan wherever you were?"
